CCA Goals in Tourism

The tourism sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina provides a wide range of natural, cultural, and religious attractions, and has the potential to bring even greater numbers of visitors to BiH to contribute to the local economy.

The CCA activities in tourism are focused in three targeted geographic areas. These areas include: the Sarajevo region - for cultural and sport tourism; Herzegovina - for religious and cultural tourism; and the northwest region of BiH, known as Krajina - for ecological and sport tourism.

The CCA’s efforts are bringing together a broad range of stakeholders, including representatives of BiH tourism organizations, ministries, hotels and restaurants, transportation services, travel agencies, educational institutions, trade associations and leaders of various sport clubs and firms providing a wide range of tourist attractions to visitors. Through participating in the working groups, the stakeholders are actively involved in developing a unified, industry-wide strategy to increase the growth and enhance the competitiveness of the tourism industry in BiH.

Specifically, industry stakeholders working groups will eventually function as clusters: networks of interconnected service and supply firms, related industries, and institutions located in particular geographic areas. The CCA’s activities include:

- formulation and implementation of an industry-wide strategy for BiH tourism sector development;
- improving BiH tourism recruitment initiatives and retention of workers;
- training and professional development for current and prospective employees in the tourism sector;
- supporting specific project initiatives in the three geographic regions;
- upgrading existing tourism packages;
- assisting trade associations in serving industry needs;
- promoting BiH tourism both domestically and internationally.

To increase its productivity, profitability and rate of employment, the BiH tourism sector must attract larger numbers of travelers and provide consumers and markets with a quality travel experience for their investment.
